This was a 11 day Caribbean cruise with Holland America departing from Norfolk, Virginia on 14-March.
We booked this cruise with Cruise Value Center on the web in January and for the two of us we paid under $2,000.
We decided to drive down and left at 5:30 am and we got into Norfolk around 10:30 AM, after killing time at Wal-Mart.
We paid $110 to park at the cruise parking lot. We later learned you can stay at Best Western for $69 a night and they allowed you to leave your vechicle on their lot for the duration of your cruise for free. They also take you to/from the cruise ship.
We got on the ship at noon or so. No problems and the process was quick (less than 20 min). We brought 2 bottles of wine with us and when it went through the X-ray machine with no questions. Looking back I would have brought more on. This was our 5th cruise and we make it a point NOT to purchase anything on the ship except for shore excursions. I will not be ripped off in paying 5 times the cost for a drink !!

Another plus of arriving at noon is that we had lunch on the ship.
