Arizona Relocation Adventure #1 - MAY 2016

The four houses we looked at three were in Catalina Foothills -> Tanque Verde and the last one was in the east valley towards Vail, AZ

IMPRESSIVE. But, 789K it best be. The layout was excellent and it just had the feeling of comfort. The kitchen was VERY HIGH END. Viking appliances and the island was 4+ inch thick granite.

It had some steps that were fine.

The only bad thing is that the road (photo 44, 49) was busier than I would have wanted but perhaps it would provide excitement. Photo 47 is downtown Tucson so the views from here are impressive.

The woman watching the house was not the listing realtor so no pressure here. The house was staged as the people had already moved out.

6441 N Placita Alta Reposa, Tucson, AZ 85750

5 beds 3 baths 3,580 sq. ft.

$789,000 (Sold for $752,500 on 09/18/2016)

Stunning foothills executive home. Gorgeous mountain views. 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths. Use one bedroom as a fantastic office. Great split floor plan. Sumptuous master suite. Seller redid kitchen through Kitchen Concepts 3 years ago. Absolutely stunning. High-quality Viking appliances throughout. It even includes a wine refrigerator. Wonderful entertaining area overlooking the pool and spa with an expansive view of the Catalina Mountains that is totally unobstructed. Living Room with wall-of-windows viewing the mountains and cozy fireplace. Family room with surround sounds and fireplace. Formal and informal dining. Oversized 3-car garage with loads of storage cabinets. HVAC system and all windows were replaced 3-4 years ago. What a bonus. Don't miss out

So, these areas are all HOA's and what you do is very controlled. Again this is generally a good thing. Also, all on city water & sewage.

This area had my #1 house to look at

Its gated ($100 a month for the HOA to maintain the security, streets and such) And the house which was impressive had too many steps / levels and the layout was strange. The cats would have never found us and I would have had to put beepers on them. The views were impressive but for $725K It had to be.

What is interesting as the way they situate these houses you can be on small lots but with the canyons that they are on, you are not close to anther house.

The realtor said that some houses take 3 years to sell so it's possible that the house we may buy is already listed.

The third house we looked at in the foothills area

What was interesting is that I had a search running for houses 400-900K with a POOL and VIEWS. This house hit.. It had a nice pool but no views. What was funny is that without 2 GPS's running I would have never found the place. Even the realtor showing the place was shocked that we showed up. Crazy... As you can see the house shows well as it should for $699K (will never go for this price) But, what the photos did not show is that it was quite low in the wash so it could possibly have a flood or erosion issue and the house next to it had some hillbillies living in it that I could see a problem with that. Regardless, we used this as a learning experience.

5340 N Camino Escuela, Tucson, AZ 85718

Don't miss this opportunity to own this custom 4BR + den home, conveniently located on one of the most desirable Foothills streets in District 16. All you'll hear are the birds chirping in this quiet oasis. The backyard area is an entertainers dream with sparkling pool, lovely covered patios, built-in BBQ, & a private elevated area with fire pit to watch the Arizona sunset. High end finishes throughout inc. Brazilian cherry flooring, newer pine metal-clad French doors, rolling shades, a huge walk-in master closet, travertine, surround sound, & much more. Fabulous open kitchen has cherry cabs, high end lighting, a newer double oven w/ micro, SS apps, & b-fast bar. Newer solar panels let you say goodbye to your electric bill (well, most of it).

East Valley

I was using only Zillow but was concerned that we were going past some homes that were not listed. So, I put realtor.com app on my phone and it hit on this one. This area was appx. 90 minutes from where we were staying but near Vail, AZ which was my desired location. The house was very interesting.

Not as high-end but that is something we could fix. 3.4 acres.. Views, private. Great pool. The bad was only a 2 car garage (we want 3 to 4 or even more with a RV garage)

We discovered on trip 2 that just west of this house (1/2 mile) the Houghton Rd corridor is being upgraded to 6 lanes. So, this house would be looking out on a future freeway. This is not what we are looking for. Also this house was close to high density housing which is another thing we want to be far away from.
