We have gone on two insect lighting events up at Nixon Park and we decided that we wanted to do this ourselves.

So, I aquired a 400w mercury vapor light from a friend that did not work. I fixed it and removed it from the lens so we could get 360 degree light.

We were told that the bright light brings them in and the UV light from a bug light settles them down. So, I took the light out of a old bug light.

In addition we picked up some cheap sheets at Wal-Mart and we were ready to go. This set up really lit up the yard !! We started around 8:30 and almost immediately we were getting visitors.

We started looking around 10pm. (NOTE: Camera time is off by 1 hour)

Ilia Underwing - Catocala ilia
