Sorry, I have not had the time to update this page as of late. I have taken literally 1,000's of insect and critter photos over the past few years and someday (probably in the winter) I will update this page. I have invested in some pro-grade cameras & macro lenses and want to categorize all the insects that I have observed on my farm.
Jack (and Nina) asked me to add a link to: Entomology home guide identifying house and yard insects
One of the best books that I have seen to help ID the critters in the Mid-Atlantic is "Insects: Their Natural History and Diversity: With a Photographic Guide to Insects of Eastern North America" On Amazon. Now at $64.60 with free shipping
I am friends with The Bugman who provides numerous educational programs in the York, Pennsylvania area. Here is his webpage: Ryan the BugMan Look for him on FaceBook too.
Once a year I host a visit from Bill Johnson Nature Stock Photography, Inc. and we explore our farm looking for various unique plants and insects. We also drink and eat very well.
When Bill and his wife visit. We enjoy the company of Jill and Warren Steiner. Warren is retired from the Smithsonian where he was a Entomology researcher. Warren Steiner, Research Collaborator, Coleoptera
Another great reference is Insect Identification website
NOTE: They run a JAVA Script to keep you from copying text on the site. VERY easy to get around this. Just find the "View Page Source" in your browser and
then you can copy / paste the test. If you are after images use the snipping tool to copy / paste to save.
Will update soon
