NOV 2014

I added four Moultrie M-880 series digital game cameras. So far I am impressed as they are 8 megapixel and I am not getting many false triggers. Time will tell. You can get them on amazon.com for around $108. These also have the tempature inprinted on the photo which is cool.

One of the two Bushnell 8MP Trophy Cam Bone Collector Trail Cameras is only good for day shots as the IR flash has gone bad for some reason. Won't be buying that kind anymore.

I am generally impressed with them. Very long battery life and they are quick at taking images.

AUG 2013

I had some issues with shading & day length reducing the winter solar power capabilities of the units so they would turn off and not come back on. So, I added a 2nd panel and elevated the units to keep the mice and other critters away from the cameras. The LCD displays don't work anymore so I can't set the date / time on the units. But, my only goal is to see what walks by. I am impressed that they are still working after 6+ years.(Update - NOV 2013 I think they are not working anymore)

NOV 2008

I grew tired of spending close to $20 a month on D cell batteries on the two new game cams that I picked up a year ago. I even bought the solar panel for it at Cabela's (major discount) but the issue was the 6 rechargeable D batteries that I needed to get. Looked on the web and they are not cheap ! The first game cam that I made the solar charger for works great so I figured I would do it again.

The only issue is that these units run on 9 volts vs. the 12 volts that the other cam works on.

Had to install a 7809 Power Supply Regulator. Placed this in the weather tight battery compartment of the camera.

NOTE: Cam1 has a time / date problem. It advances quickly and makes each day more than a year.
Cam2 has a flash problem. Sometimes it will fire off but not always.

I have reset both cameras but the problems remain. Will replace both one of these days.

All done. $30 for the panel from Harbor Freight Tools. and $21 for a battery from Wal-Mart. And a hour of time.
